Welcome!

As a parent, guiding your child through school can feel like a full-time job — a daunting, frustrating, and oftentimes unsuccessful role that even the most capable parents aren’t prepared to take on. Partnering with parents and their children for over two decades, Boyden Educational Therapy takes this job over and provides the guidance to help ease these struggles.

Does your child:

  • Agonize over homework and completing assignments?

  • Suffer from low self-esteem due to poor academic performance?

  • Grapple with staying focused on important things, becoming easily distracted?

  • Sabotage him or herself by acting on inappropriate impulses?

  • Lack overall academic motivation?

Would your child benefit from:

  • Learning how to study for tests and quizzes?

  • Developing the skills to write better papers?

  • Progressing in the areas of executive functioning and organizational skills?

  • Multi-sensory reading, writing or math support?

At Boyden Educational Therapy, your child will feel like learning is making sense to them for the first time!

Amy’s Mission:

To teach your child how to be a successful thinker and independent life-long learner.

What Is An Educational Therapist?

Unlike a tutor, who typically focuses on the specific academic task at hand — like completing an assignment or teaching a lesson from a textbook — an educational therapist goes deeper, uncovering the root problems of your child’s learning struggles. Amy will endeavor to discover your child's unique learning style, and she will employ a multi-sensory approach to teach to your child's strengths.

Educational Therapy provides one-on-one academic support to children and adolescents who exhibit learning difficulties and learning styles that the mainstream educational system simply isn’t resourced to address:

  • Dyslexia

  • Dyscalculia

  • Dysgraphia

  • Anxiety

  • Behavioral Disorders

  • Sensory Processing

  • Motivational Issues

  • Executive Functioning

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Educational Therapist as Primary Coordinator & Educational Advocate

Once a child’s educational and learning challenges are diagnosed and beginning to be understood, Amy often serves as the primary coordinator and educational advocate for the child — the connective tissue — between parents, teachers, therapists, psychologists, diagnostic testing facilitators, and other specialists, so there is alignment within your child’s educational team….

“Finding Boyden Educational Therapy was life changing for my son and gave him the tools he needs to be successful. Amy truly understands Neurodiversity and has incredible insight on techniques that are relevant for each person's challenges. She gives parents a safe space to be heard and educates them on how to best advocate for their child. My son is now an excellent reader, he's attentive in class, finishes assignments, turns in assignments, has his work organized, advocates for himself, has good study skills, and he continues to use all the tools Amy taught him. He is now off to high school, planning to attend university, and his self confidence continues to grow.”

Amy provides excellence in her work. She is highly effective at teaching learning strategies to students of all ages. Amy clearly understands that each student has a unique learning style and tailors her work to meet each student's individual needs. I am always confident referring students to her.”

At one point or another, Amy Boyden Kerth worked with each of our three children – two of whom have dyslexia – and each of whom developed improved and very effective study and organization habits from Amy. She was also wonderful to work with, both for our children, and for us as parents. We couldn't recommend her more highly!”

Amy was referred to me by a college professor over 7 years ago and we still happily use her educational services with our children. Simply said, Amy is AMY-zing!!”

We have been working with Amy for over 3 years and she has made a huge difference in my son’s math, reading, social and emotional and executive functioning skills. She is patient and understanding and has boosted my son’s overall confidence. Amy is caring and provides a thorough understanding of the subject material and is very attentive to our son’s questions. She has fully invested herself in my son’s academic, social, and emotional well-being. Amy is dedicated, motivated and gets excited when my son does well and is very encouraging. I’d highly recommend working with Amy. She is the best at what she does and a pleasure to partner with.”
